OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse team (6-5 overall, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) earned a 15-5 victory over Hood on Wednesday evening.
The Mustangs opened the contest with a dominant 5-0 first quarter. Megan Greenwell got the scoring started at 13:37 off an assist from Alice Petersen. Hailey Johnson followed with a man-up goal, assisted by Ava Treakle. Sarah Perry added the third goal at the 2:42 mark before Petersen and Greenwell each found the back of the net to close out the quarter.
Stevenson carried its momentum into the second, as Perry and June Price each scored to extend the lead. Hood answered with two goals, but Zoe Kaplan and Petersen responded to maintain control. Hood added one more late in the half, sending Stevenson into the break with a 9-3 advantage.
In the third quarter, Treakle, Petersen, and Johnson each recorded a goal, while Hood scored at the 10:53 mark. Emma Carpenter capped the period with Stevenson's 13th goal, giving the Mustangs a 13-4 lead heading into the final frame.
Carpenter struck again to open the fourth quarter before Hood added its fifth goal of the night. Petersen closed out the scoring to secure the 15-5 win.
Petersen delivered a 10-point performance, tying for third in program history for points in a single game, while her six assists also tie for third all-time in single-game records. Johnson finished with six points on two goals and four assists, and Sarah Perry added three points. Treakle controlled the draw with nine draw controls to go along with two points. Sophie Perry led the defense with four caused turnovers, while Rachel McDonough and Carpenter each recorded three. In goal, Regan Torbert made three saves and collected two ground balls over the first three quarters, and Anna Johnston added a save in the fourth.
The Mustangs will continue their conference campaign, facing Widener University next. First draw is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Chester, Pa.
