VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Mustangs qualified for the MAC Championships in multiple events at the outdoor season-opening Betty S. Rogers Spring Break Invitational, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan.
Kaliyah Heffner placed second in the 100m finals with a time of 13.08 (13.02 prelim), which earned her an early entry into the conference championships.
Dallas Fowler, who also earned a MAC spot, placed seventh in the finals with a 13.58 (13.02 prelim).Â
Heffner also qualified in the 200 with a 26.66, which gave her second overall.
Camryn Stanard also earned a MAC spot with a 26.87 and fourth-place finish.Â
Fowler clocked a 1:00.97 (MACq) in the 400 and took second place, while
Laylah Talley placed fourth in the 100m hurdles with a 16.92 (MACq).
Kaitlyn Hess narrowly missed her personal best in the long jump by .01m with a distance of 5.10m (MACq), which gave her fourth overall. Hess also took fourth in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 9.99m (MACq).Â
Aryanna Jones had a top height of 1.42m in the high jump (MACq).Â
In the throwing events,
Cara Guagenti placed third in the javelin with a distance of 28.07m (MACq).
Kyrah Agbemble took third in the discus with a distance of 31.54m (MACq), while
Nneoma Oseagulu placed fifth (28.68m). Oseagulu would also place third in the hammer (32.57m) and sixth in the shot put (9.54m - MACq).
The Mustangs compete next at the Green Terror Invite, hosted by McDaniel, on Friday, April 3.Â
