Myrtle Beach, S.C. (March 17) – The Stevenson Mustangs softball team split a pair of contests on Tuesday, falling in a competitive battle against Scranton before bouncing back in dominant fashion with a 13–2 run-rule victory over St. Joseph's (L.I.). After being held in check offensively in game one, the Mustangs responded with a breakout performance at the plate in game two, combining timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to secure the split.
Game 1 vs. Scranton:
Both teams opened the game in a defensive rhythm, with neither side able to break through in the early innings. Stevenson saw its first opportunity in the opening frame as

The Mustangs continued to apply pressure, highlighted by a third-inning double from
Sahara Ward, but were unable to convert, as Scranton capitalized in the inning to take a 1–0 lead.
Stevenson's defense held firm through the fourth, but Scranton broke things open in the fifth inning, stringing together timely hits to plate four runs and extend the lead to 5–0.
Refusing to back down, the Mustangs answered in the sixth inning with a strong offensive surge.

Game 2 vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island
Stevenson wasted no time setting the tone, capitalizing on early opportunities in the first inning. Aggressive baserunning and defensive miscues by St. Joseph's helped the Mustangs plate four runs, highlighted by RBI contributions from
Caylee Cliett and
Maria Morsa to jump out to a 4–0 lead.
The Mustangs continued to apply pressure in the second inning, adding two more runs. Williams reached on an error to bring in a run, before
Ava Stafursky delivered an RBI double to extend the advantage to 6–0.
Stevenson broke the game open in the third inning with a five-run outburst.
Rebecca Maiorano and Williams each drove in runs before Stafursky delivered the biggest swing of the day—a three-RBI double—to push the lead to 11–0.
After St. Joseph's managed to score two unearned runs in the fourth, Stevenson responded immediately. Maiorano came through again with a two-RBI triple, scoring Ward and

In the circle,
Anna Sexton earned the win, tossing four innings while allowing just two runs (none earned) and striking out three.
