CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: Stevenson Set to Host 2026 MAC Cross Country Championships

Stevenson, Md. - The Stevenson University men's and women's cross country teams will compete for conference titles as the Mustang host the 2026 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 31 at the Greenspring Campus Cross Country Course.

The championships bring together the conference's top distance runners for a postseason test, with team and individual titles on the line. Stevenson will welcome the MAC field to its home course, which hosted the MAC Championship Preview Meet earlier this season.

The women's 6K race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at noon. Awards are scheduled for approximately 1:15 p.m., following the conclusion of competition and the results review period.

Teams may enter up to 15 runners, with a maximum of 12 starters permitted in each championship race. Team scoring will emphasize depth and consistency, as the finish positions of scoring runners determine the team standings. In addition to the team championships, individual honors will be awarded, with runners earning All-MAC First Team, Second Team or Third Team recognition based on their finishes among the top 30 in each race.

The Greenspring Campus Cross Country Course provides a familiar setting for the Mustangs and an opportunity for the conference field to compete on a course used during the regular season. Stevenson hosted the MAC Championship Preview Meet on September 18, giving participating teams an opportunity to experience the venue ahead of the championship. Saturday marks the second time Stevenson has hosted the MAC Cross Country Championships.

The Stevenson men's cross country team enters the championship following a strong fall campaign, highlighted by a team title at the Cairn Highlander Invitational on October 3 and a third-place finish among 17 teams at the Jack St. Clair Invitational on October 10. Anthony Hagan and Colin Takeuchi have been among the Mustangs' leading performers, with Takeuchi recording a personal-best 8K time of 30:13.97 at the MAC Championship Preview Meet.

On the women's side, the Mustangs have been led by Shaelyn O'Halloran, who earned MAC Women's Runner of the Week honors following a third-place finish at the Cairn Highlander Invitational. First-year runner Devon Boyle has also made an impact, recording a personal-best 6K time of 27:19.03 at the Jack St. Clair Invitational. Both runners will look to lead Stevenson as the Mustangs close out their conference championship season on their home course.
