OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson field hockey team opened their season home slate with a 6-0 victory over the Sewanee Tigers on Sunday morning.
Coco Wallace was the first to put the Mustangs on the board with a goal in the 10
th minute of the contest, as
Lauren Schulz followed less than three minutes later off a feed from
Hailey Mertz.
In the second quarter,
Lauren Tobin netted the third goal for the Mustangs off a pass from
Gracyn Catalano.
Tori Martz then followed with her first collegiate goal in the 22
nd minute of the match with an assist from
Brenna Benson.
The Mustangs held off in the third quarter, but to start the fourth quarter
Monica Druckemiller put away an unassisted goal in the 49
th minute. Less than five minutes later
Taylor Valoczki capped off the 6-0 win for Stevenson with her first collegiate goal off a pass from
Annie Ingersoll.
Six Mustangs notched a two-point game with a goal, as four tallied a point from assists.
Jordan Vradenburgh and
Ollie Winterle split the contest in goal for combined three saves to shut out the Tigers. The Mustangs out shot the tigers 27-3 overall, and 16-3 on goal.
The Mustangs will remain in Owings Mills as the squad prepares to host Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, September 3. First possession is slated for 5 p.m.
