NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team fell to the University of Lynchburg Hornets 15-6 on Saturday in the Second Round of the NCAA Championship Tournament.
Hunter Bryant opened scoring about two minutes into the contest to put Stevenson up 1-0, but the Hornets responded with a 10-goal run before
Andrew Searing could net a goal to halt the run. Lynchburg led 10-2 at halftime.
Max Racich put away the first goal of the second half, as the Hornets replied with another goal. Searing and Bryant each put a goal away, as Lynchburg slotted a 12
th goal to lead 12-5.
Darrell Curtis put the sixth and final goal away for Stevenson at the 10:27 mark in the fourth quarter, while Lynchburg followed with three more goals to cap off a 15-6 win over Stevenson.
Bryant and Searing each had a two-goal game, as Curtis and Racich each netted one goal.
Nik Leahan caused three turnovers while picking up five ground balls, as
Camden Miller caused two turnovers and scooped up three ground balls.
Tyler Merchant made 11 saves in the crease for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs finish their season 14-6 overall and will shift to post season recovery and to building during the fall ball season ahead next semester.
