OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University baseball team banged out ten hits on Monday in its series finale against Alvernia but the Golden Wolves (20-11, 12-3 MACC) plated three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 win over the Mustangs (8-24, 3-12 MACC).
Matt Perri and Sam Batiancila each had two hits, while Zack Majeski, Collin Palmieri, John Padousis, John Noll, Michael McGarry and Vincent Licor all hit safely in the loss.Â
Stevenson pulled even in the fifth after trailing 2-0 when Palmieri hit a two-run single to left scoring Nick Griffn and Batiancila. Alvernia would go ahead for good in the sixth
scoring three in the top of the frame.Â
The Mustangs were only able to get one back in the sixth as Batiancila grounded out to first scoring McGarry.Â
Sommers Turner took the loss in relief of Zane Stone. Stone went five innings, allowing just one hit and one earned run as he struck out five and walked three.Â
Stevenson will host York on Friday.
