STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 win in its MAC Commonwealth opener against Eastern at the Greenspring Courts.
Kara Chwang and
Sofia McCoy won their second match of the day in a 6-1 triumph in No. 2 doubles.
Mackenzie Dicke and
Tiffany Njemanze won their No. 3 match by a 6-3 score.
Shelby Carter and
Ariella Stepleman suffered a rare defeat in No. 1, 7-5.
Carter won a hard-fought match in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-5 which gives her four wins on the year. Stepleman dominated her No. 2 opponent, 6-1, 6-0. Chwang, Dicke and Njemanze all won in straight sets. McCoy overcame a one-set deficit to take her match, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-3).
The Mustangs (5-4, 1-0 MACC) will celebrate Senior Day in a non-conference matchup against McDaniel on Sunday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
