GENESEO, N.Y. - Stevenson Men's Hockey made history tonight by playing in the program's first ever NCAA Tournament game, hosted by fourth-ranked SUNY Geneseo. The Mustangs held their own in their debut performance, but ultimately fell 3-1.
The first period was highlighted by perfect goaltending performances at both ends. Mustang netminder Ford DeLoss stopped all 16 shots that he faced while the Knights' Adam Harris turned away all 13 Stevenson shots.
The Knights would get on the board late in the second period after a net-front tip. DeLoss would add another 13 saves in the middle period.
Stevenson was granted a power-play at the halfway point of the third period, and it would be senior Evan Beers to capitalize on a redirection off of the referee's skate. The goal was his fifth on the year and the 22nd of his career.
Geneseo got a break just two minutes later, regaining the lead.
Despite the Mustangs' best efforts, their late scoring chances were denied, and the Knights would score an empty-netter to achieve the 3-1 final.
DeLoss finished the game with a career-high 39 saves.
In front of DeLoss, first year Jack Costabile recorded a game-high five blocks, followed by classmate Aiden Lindley with four and senior Dylan Florit with three.
Offensively for the Mustangs, senior Liam McCanney led the charge with six shots, followed by Florit and junior Blake Benson with four apiece.
In the circle, senior Graeme McCrory tied for a game-high 13 victories, followed by Florit with 12.
The Mustangs finish their 2024-25 campaign 18-8-2 overall.
