READING, Pa. – Trailing by eight points with just under three minutes to go, the Stevenson University men's basketball team got to within two points but could not close the gap as the Mustangs (8-15, 2-10 MAC Commonwealth) dropped a tight 55-53 decision to Albright (15-7, 10-2 MAC Commowealth) Saturday afternoon.
Kendall Seguignol led the Mustangs with 12 points, while
Cameron Smith added in 11.
Ronald Ayers had nine for Stevenson.
For Albright, Qadir Mitchell had 17 points with Eric Chamberlain adding in 15.
On the glass, Smith had a game-high 13 rebounds.
Down five with 10:45 left, the Mustangs were able to pull even at 40-all with 6:14 left in the game on a layup by
Cameron Sapienza. After Albright went back up eight, Stevenson slowly chipped away at the lead and got back within three at 55-52 with 45 seconds left on a Ayers layup.
Myles Jackson made a foul shot with 11 seconds left but the Mustangs could not get any closer.
Stevenson goes to Messiah on Tuesday.
