Barwick nets goal, Mustangs drop 3-1 to Alvernia

REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (0-3) fell 3-1 to Alvernia (2-1) on Friday evening at Reisterstown Sportsplex.

Alvernia jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first period, including one on the power play. In the third period, Carleigh Barwick put the Mustangs on the board off assists from Meghan Croyle and Kiana Baker, cutting the deficit to one. However, the Golden Wolves responded five minutes later with their third goal to secure the win.

Despite being outshot 33-17, Stevenson held the advantage in the faceoff circle, winning 30 of 53 draws. Maggie Sehnert recorded 30 saves in net for the Mustangs.

Stevenson will look to bounce back on Saturday as they face Alvernia again for Youth Hockey Night. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m., followed by a postgame skate (please note: skate rentals will not be available).
