Men's Basketball Opens Season with 75–69 Win Over Goucher

Owings Mills, Md. (November 7) – The Stevenson men's basketball team opened the 2025–26 season with a statement victory, defeating Goucher 75–69 Friday night inside Owings Mills Gymnasium.

The Mustangs set the tone early with an 8–0 run midway through the first half, capped by a three-pointer from Kyle Luddy that brought the home crowd to its feet. Goucher briefly rallied, but a late surge led by back-to-back buckets from Kole Beaman and a corner three by Andre Brooks gave Stevenson a 33–25 advantage heading into halftime.

Goucher opened the second half with a quick basket to cut the deficit to five, but the Mustangs answered immediately. Kendall Seguignol finished a driving layup off a feed from Noah Ihezue, and moments later, Beaman drilled a triple from the top of the arc to push the lead back to double digits.

The Gophers made one final push late in the half, pulling within four with under two minutes to play, but Stevenson remained poised at the line. Seguignol and Myles Jackson each knocked down clutch free throws to seal the six-point victory.

Beaman led the way with 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while Luddy, Seguignol, and David Pridgen each added 11. Luddy also grabbed eight rebounds and handed out three assists, and Ihezue filled the stat sheet with five assists, four steals, and five points.

Defensively, the Mustangs forced 20 turnovers, turning them into 30 points and outpacing Goucher 16–9 in fast-break scoring. Stevenson's bench also played a key role, contributing 24 points and steady minutes throughout the night.

The Mustangs (1–0) will remain home for a cross-MAC matchup against Lebanon Valley, on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:00 p.m.
