YORK, Pa. - The Mustangs claimed four top five finishes in York and fell to third at the conclusion of day two events at the Spartan Invitational.
Stevenson entered day two events only trailing York College (Pa.) with 154 points, but a strong performance by Widener University saw the Pride jump into second by 11.5 points.
Day two opened with the 200-yard Medley Relay where the Mustangs claimed their first top five position of the day.
William Lebron,
Brandon Cogdill,
Zachary Clark, and
Justin Watts swam a 1:40.22, setting a new team season-best.
Brendan Lach took to the pool in the following event, the 400-yard IM. He secured the only podium position for the Mustangs of the day, swimming a 4:30.79 in the finals. Although, it was in the preliminary heat where Lach set a new career-best, recording a time of 4:29.71.
The next event was the 100-yard Butterfly where Clark was the highest-ranking Mustang. His sixth place time of 53.18 was .03 seconds off from a top five finish, but set a new team season-best.
Lebron secured his own top five finish in the 200-yard Freestyle in the following event. He recorded a time of 1:51.37, setting a new team season-best and career-best.
In the 100-yard Breaststroke, Cogdill ranked seventh, and swam a 1:01.51. That time set a new career-best, as well as team season-best.
Keon Pugh took to the blocks in the 100-yard Backstroke, swimming an eight place time of 56.56. Similar to Cogdill and Lebron in the previous two events, that time set a new team season-best and career-best.
In the final event of the day, the 800-yard Freestyle Relay, Lebron,
Aiden Dill,
Zachory Hogg, and Lach secured fifth place with a time of 7:42.03.
Stevenson sit on 336 points with one day of events left in the Spartan Invitational.
