Owings Mills, Md. (November 15) — Despite a hard-fought effort on both sides of the ball, the Stevenson Mustangs came up just short in a 16–10 battle against Eastern on a Senior Day afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs set the tone early in the first quarter. After flipping the field with a strong defensive stand, Stevenson pieced together a crisp five-play scoring drive.
Todd Lattimore delivered a composed strike to
Stephen Tatum for a six-yard touchdown, and
Micah Veilleux's PAT pushed the Mustangs ahead 7–0 with 8:25 left in the opening frame.
From there, the game settled into a defensive duel. Stevenson continued to generate pressure, highlighted by a first-quarter interception that halted an Eastern possession near midfield. The Mustangs' front seven swarmed throughout the afternoon, forcing a second-quarter turnover on downs and later producing a key forced fumble early in the third.
Eastern managed a 41-yard field goal late in the second quarter, trimming Stevenson's lead to 7–3 heading into halftime.
The second half saw both defenses continue to dominate drives, but Eastern capitalized on two short-field opportunities, connecting on touchdown passes in the third and fourth quarters to move in front 16–7.
Stevenson answered with one of its best late-game drives of the season. Trailing by nine with under five minutes remaining, the Mustangs marched 60 yards behind confident quarterback play and timely receptions from
Devon Grant and
Noah Robinson. Veilleux knocked through a 30-yard field goal with 1:53 remaining, pulling Stevenson within one score at 16–10.
The Mustangs attempted to set up a final opportunity, booting the kickoff deep and relying on their defense one more time. Stevenson forced Eastern into a four-play drive that drained the clock to 0:00, ending the comeback bid.
Stevenson officially ends the 2025 season with a 6-4 overall record and a 5-4 record in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
