REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey team (1-1) fell to Nazareth (2-0) by a 4-2 score on Saturday night at Reisterstown Sportsplex.
Matt Yeager opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the 7th of the first period, assisted by Lucas Karlsson and Aiden Lindley. Nazareth responded with a power-play goal at 11th to tie the game, then added another at 15:14 to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Golden Flyers extended their advantage with a goal in the 12th minute. Two minutes later, Blake Benson brought Stevenson back within one on a power-play tally to make it 3-2.
Nazareth sealed the game late in the third period with an empty-net goal, securing the 4-2 win.
Stevenson held a narrow edge in shots, 27-26, and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 40 of 66 draws. Yeager and Benson each scored for the Mustangs, while Karlsson, Lindley, and McDowell recorded assists. Goaltender Ford DeLoss made 22 saves in net.
The Mustangs now turn their attention to MAC opponent Alvernia, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. on Friday in Reading, Pa.
