Vradenburgh’s career-high 12 saves help Mustangs to 1-0 win at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Stevenson Field Hockey recorded their 8th win on the season this afternoon at Mary Washington. Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Vradenburgh allowed Stevenson to keep their early lead, setting a new career-high save total in the process.

Stevenson and Mary Washington ended the first half tied for shots with six, but only Stevenson would capitalize on their offensive efforts. Graduate student Emma Gladstein netted her 11th goal of the season just six minutes into the second quarter, bringing her season point total to 29. Sophomore Shae Bennett was credited with the assist, and the point was her sixth on the season.

The Eagles came out hard in the second half, ending up with 23 shots and 23 penalty corners by the game's conclusion. Their efforts were sullied by Vradenburgh, who stood tall in net with make 12 saves, including five in the fourth quarter alone.

Vradenburgh's season save total is nearly doubled after today's performance, which brings her to 26 on the season. The shutout is her sixth.

The Mustangs sit at 8-0-1 heading into Tuesday's non-conference matchup at Lancaster Bible. Stevenson then boasts two straight home contests for their final two non-conference games against No. 2 Salisbury and No. 4 Johns Hopkins on October 5th and 9th, respectively.
