Women's Volleyball takes Commonwealth opener over Albright, 3-1

Box Score READING, Pa. – Hitting a scorching .314 in the match, the Stevenson University women's volleyball team won its Commonwealth Conference opener with a 3-1 victory over Albright on Wednesday night.
 
Set scores went 25-16, 19-25, 25-15 and 25-23 in favor of the Mustangs (8-4, 1-0 Commonwealth) who have now won four straight.
 
Stevenson hit .481 in the second set (17-4-27) and went .385 in the third set (17-2-39) on the way to the win.
 
Kylie DesLauriers had a match-high 19 kills, with Giulia Viglietta getting 17 and Maren Zepfel netting ten. Viglietta hit .500 in the match (17-1-32) with DesLauriers going .441 (19-4-34). Zepfel also turned in a .444 attack percentage in the win.
 
Courtney Foose had 26 assists, with Samantha Simmers getting 23 as Stevenson assisted on 61 of its 66 kills.
 
Nicolette Fuglestad had 26 digs on the night with Simmers getting 15.
 
In the first set, Albright took an early 5-2 lead before Stevenson took a 6-5 advantage on three attack errors by Albright. Leading 10-8, Stevenson opened up its lead to 18-11 on a service ace by Rachel Lenz, and kills from DesLauriers and Masibo. DesLauriers also had a block during that run. Albright got to within three at 18-15, before the Mustangs closed out the first set on a 7-1 run.
 
After Albright won the second set, Stevenson took an early 5-1 lead in the third set. Leading 6-5, Stevenson went up 10-5 on kills from Viglietta, Zepfel and Lilly Hornickle and never trailed the rest of the way.
 
The fourth set saw Albright lead late at 23-20, before Stevenson scored five straight points to end the match, highlighted by three kills from DesLauriers.
 
Stevenson heads to Scranton to take on the host Royals and Wesleyan on Saturday.
