Women's Volleyball sweeps home tri-match over Elizabethtown and Lancaster Bible

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team ran its win streak to three with a sweep during a Saturday home tri-match.
 
In the opener, Stevenson swept Elizabethtown 3-0 while battling back in the nightcap to fend off Lancaster Bible, 3-2.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-22 for the Mustangs (7-4) in their win over the Blue Jays (8-5). Stevenson hit .147 in the win, going 9-3-24 in the opening set on its way to the win.
 
Kylie DesLauriers had a match-high 23 kills, four aces while adding in 16 digs. Rachel Lenz had nine kills with Maren Zepfel getting five. Lenz also chipped in with four aces, with Samantha Summers getting three.
 
At the net, Giulia Viglietta and Lilly Hornickle had two blocks each. Makala Thompson had 16 assists, with Simmers adding in 14.
 
Defensively, Nicolette Fuglestad had 20 digs.
 
Zakara Masibo hit .500 in the first match (4-0-8) with Hornickle and Simmers both going .273.
 
In the first set, Stevenson went on a 7-0 scoring run to break open a 16-13 match. In the second set, the Mustangs rallied from an early deficit, before going on a 4-0 run to go up 19-15. Leading 23-22, the Mustangs got the last two points of the second set to go up 2-0.
 
In the third set, Stevenson went up 11-2 but saw the Blue Jays rally to tie the score at 17-all, before fending off Elizabethtown.

Set scores were 24-26, 25-10, 25-10, 22-25 and 15-13 in favor of Stevenson, who outscored the Chargers (12-3) 5-1 in the final part of the fifth set trailing 12-10.
 
DesLauriers, Lenz and Masibo each had 14 kills as Stevenson had 63 kills in the match. The Mustangs posted a .262 attack percentage in the five set win (63-18-172).
 
Simmers had four aces, with DesLauriers having three. DesLauriers, Lenz and Hornickle each had two blocks.
 
Thompson had 33 assists, with Simmers getting 20. DesLauriers had 22 digs, with Fuglestad getting 21.
 
Masibo went 14-2-24 in the nightcap, hitting .500.
 
Stevenson opens Commonwealth play on Wednesday, traveling to Albright.
