BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Stevenson Field Hockey headed to Bridgewater College this afternoon for a non-conference matchup with the Eagles. A late Stevenson goal would force a 1-1 tie, and overtime would ultimately be cut due to weather concerns.
The first half went scoreless and proved to be a defensive battle. Stevenson's lone shot came from sophomore Shae Bennett off of a penalty corner, but it was stopped by Bridgewater's Ashley Nau. For the Mustangs, sophomore Jordan Vradenburgh made one save in each of the first two quarters.
Bridgewater broke the stalemate just minutes into the third quarter, marking the first time this season that Stevenson was in a deficit.Â
With nine minutes to spare, sophomore Lauren Tobin netted her first goal as a Mustang to force overtime. However, nearby lightning would not allow for further play, and the Mustangs and Eagles ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Mustangs are still undefeated, now sitting at 6-0-1. Their next game is set for Wednesday, September 25th at 5 p.m. when they host Eastern Mennonite University.
