Mustangs conclude regular season with 22-9 Senior Day win over Widener

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Lacrosse hosted Widener University tonight as they celebrated their 19 seniors. The Mustangs would finish the regular season with another win, coming away with a 22-9 final.

First year Gavin Gossen led the Mustang offense with a career-high seven points, tying his career-best five goals. Following Gossen was senior Dillon Linhardt who matched Gossen's goal total and added one assist. This is Linhardt's second straight six-goal game. Gossen totals 41 points in his rookie campaign while Linhardt stands at 21.

First year Darrell Curtis and junior Grant Zick each put up five points on two goals and three assists and three goals and two assists, respectively. Zick leads the Mustangs this year with 70 points (31 G, 39 A) and Curtis ranks second on the team in goals with 33.

Sophomore Max Racich recorded a hat trick and added an assist for four points, bringing his team-leading goal total to 44. Junior Jack Scaliti finished with three points on a goal and two assists, and sophomore Jarred Meehan notched a pair of assists.

Defensemen Ed Masterson and Jack Seals both recorded a pole goal in their senior night celebration. The goal was the first of Seals' career and Masterson's second of the season. Senior Andrew Searing scored his 27th goal of the season in the first quarter on an extra-man opportunity.

Seniors Ryan Quinn and Justin Tepper would each add an assist to their season stat lines.

In goal, graduate student Justin Scorese made four saves for the win while first year Nicholas Parolin and junior Kai Dimaculangan combined for three saves in the fourth quarter.

Senior Conor Halpin picked up a game-high 11 ground balls on 17 face-off wins, followed by Gossen and Quinn with six ground balls each and Scorese and graduate student Nicholas Mulvey with five apiece. Senior Garrett Goudreau won six face-offs and tallied four ground balls.

Quinn, Tepper, and seniors Matt Byron, Damien Schmidt, and Thomas Bethune tied for a game-high two caused turnovers.

Tonight's win solidifies the Mustangs' spot in the 2024 MAC Commonwealth playoffs, putting them in the two-seed. The Mustangs will host third-seeded Messiah on Wednesday, May 1st in the MAC semifinal.
