OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson baseball (9-27, 4-17) concluded the 2024 season in a conference doubleheader, walking away with a double loss against the Eastern University Eagles (20-19, 10-11) on Saturday afternoon. The final scores were 7-4 and 11-8.
Both games saw a majority late game play by the Mustangs.
GAME 1
In the bottom of the fifth, designated hitter
Dalton Reinhart had a base hit double to start the action for the Mustangs.
In the final frame, the Mustangs secured their four runs, first with a single from senior second baseman
Ryan Lassiter. Reinhart and sophomore left fielder
Kaige Garrity scored on the hit. A single from senior first baseman
Nick Tamberino secured him an RBI and allowing first-year right fielder
Christopher Manco to return home. A base hit double followed, allowing Lassiter to secure the fourth run for the Mustangs.
Lassiter secured two total RBI in the first game. Manco walked once in the first game of the doubleheader. On the mound, senior
Jason Labrador in for 5.0 IP struck out five, taking the loss allowing seven hits and two walks.
GAME 2
An early third inning single from Reinhart allowed sophomore center fielder
Graham Sears to return home.
In the seventh inning, the Mustangs secured two more plays, first with a score from first-year shortstop Conor Wilkerson despite a ground out. This was followed by a second Reinhart single for Sears.
Labrador, appearing at bat for the Mustangs hit a final frame single to get on base in the final frame. The Mustangs doubled their runs in the inning, first with a single from sophomore second baseman
Cory Hatcher, allowing sophomore pinch hitter
Noah Joly, who singled earlier to score. Following the play, junior first baseman
Jack Gitterman walked, allowing Labrador to score. The final play came off a Wilkerson double, allowing first-year pinch hitter A.J. Viccora to score the eighth and final run for the Mustangs.
Reinhart secured two RBI on two hits. Wilkerson also added two hits with three RBI on the afternoon in the second game. Sears and Wilkerson each secured a stolen base. On the mound, first-year
Jake Treasure, who struck out one, took the loss with 5.1 IP, allowing 10 hits. Junior
Caden Dail, appearing for two thirds of an inning, also struck out one against a hit.
