Baseball outpaced by Golden Wolves on Senior Day

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson baseball (9-18, 4-11) ended behind conference opponent Alvernia (20-10, 12-3) in Sunday's doubleheader. The final scores were 5-2 and 28-5. Seniors Jason Labrador, Kyle Pellegrino, Nick Tamberino, Jake Boden, Ryan Lassiter, and Jake Pigeon were honored before taking on the opponent.
 
GAME 1
In the seven inning affair, the Mustangs did manage an early game run with sophomore outfield Graham Sears returning home on a sacrifice bunt from junior infield Brandon Perillo in the bottom of the first.
 
Only seeing one more scoring chance in the bottom of the fifth, the Mustangs tied the Golden Wolves 2-2 on a fielder's choice from junior infield Brady Bedway, allowing junior outfield Zack Majeski to score from third. The Golden Wolves managed three more to conclude the opening game of the afternoon.
 
Bedway and Perillo picked up an RBI each, while Christopher Manco managed two hits. On pitching, Labrador went 5.0 striking out four against four hits and two runs. Pellegrino pitched for 1.0, taking the loss on one strikeout against two runs.
 
GAME 2
Although managing early game effort once again, the Mustangs were outmatched in the top of the seventh.
 
Getting on the board first in the bottom of the first, Sears scored for the Mustangs on a wild pitch.
 
The second run arrived for the Mustangs on a center fielder error, allowing junior designated hitter Dalton Reinhart on base to return.
 
The bottom of the sixth saw two more for the Mustangs, the first arriving on a second basemen error, allowing Majeski to score. The fourth run arrived after a Golden Wolves pitching change. A single from Sears secured a run for sophomore catcher John Padousis.
 
Only securing one more run in the bottom of the seventh on a double from sophomore infielder Vince Licor, allowing sophomore outfield Collin Palmieri to score, the final decision was made at 28-5.
 
Sears and Licor each secured an RBI, with Sears and Reinhart picking up a pair of hits. Eight Mustangs appeared on the mound, with Jake Treasure taking the loss at 3.2 IP, striking out five against six hits and three runs. Junior Caden Dail struck out two for 1.2 IP against a run and five walks.
 
The Mustangs next travel to Salisbury University on Wednesday, April 17th for a 3:30 p.m. game.
