Men's Volleyball honors seniors during tri-match with Misericordia, Sacred Heart

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's volleyball team closed its regular season home slate on Saturday by hosting nationally-ranked Misericordia and Division I Sacred Heart.
 
In the opener, Stevenson dropped a 3-0 decision to 18th-ranked Misericordia, 3-0, while taking a set from Sacred Heart in a 3-1 loss to the Pioneers.

Misericordia (20-8, 6-1 MAC) took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-22. Despite the loss, Stevenson hit .224 in the match (31-12-85).
 
Anthony Pezzino had a team-high 11 kills as he hit .400 (11-3-20), while Tim Flanagan had seven kills. Ryan Thenell added in six with Aidan O'Brien getting four.
 
Justin Novoa had 27 assists in the opener.
 
O'Brien had three blocks in the match, with Pezzino having eight digs.
 
Sacred Heart 3, Stevenson 1
In the match against the Pioneers – out of the NEC – Stevenson (14-10) battled in the first set before falling 26-24. The Mustangs won the second set 25-19, before dropping sets three and four, 26-24 and 25-20.
 
O'Brien netted 13 kills in the match on 28 attempts, while Pezzino had 11. Micah Ernest had nine kills with Elliot De La Torre getting eight as did Flanagan.
 
Novoa had 43 assists on 49 kills, while De La Torre had four blocks.
 
Tanner Laukhuff had 13 digs for Stevenson.
 
The Mustangs head to Eastern on Wednesday with a chance to clinch a playoff spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
 
Prior to the Sacred Heart match, Ernest, Novoa and O'Brien were honored in their final regular season home match.
