HARRISONBURG, Va. – The win streak has reached six for the Stevenson Men's Volleyball team as the Mustangs (9-4) defeated Carolina University 3-1 and host Eastern Mennonite 3-2 in a tri-match on Saturday.
The Mustangs have now won eight out of their last nine.
Stevenson 3, Carolina University 1
Set scores were in the first match were 25-14, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-11.
The Mustangs hit very sharply in the opener, finishing the match with an attack percentage of .416 (48-11-89). In the fourth set, Stevenson went 13-1-21 for a percentage of .571.
Tim Flanagan led the way with 14 kills, while
Brian Farrell had seven and
Tanner Laukhuff had six.
Ryan Thenell and
Adam DeRubertis had three aces each.
At the net,
Elliot De La Torre,
Aidan O'Brien and
Corwin Trouteaud each had three total blocks.
Doug Hines had 23 assists, with
Justin Novoa getting 16. Defensively, Hines, DeRubertis and
Anthony Pezzino each had five digs.
Stevenson 3, Eastern Mennonite 2
Set scores in the last match of the day were 22-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-20 and 15-5. The Mustangs pulled away in the fifth and deciding set by hitting nearly perfect, going 8-0-12 at .667.
Tim Flanagan had 27 kills on an impressive 47 attack attempts for a hitting percentage of .404. Pezzino had 17 kills while O'Brien added in seven.
Novoa had 48 assits, with Flanagan getting 12 digs and Pezzino and Novoa with ten.
O'Brien had four blocks for Stevenson, who hosts nationally-ranked Messiah on Wednesday in a key Middle Atlantic Conference matchup.
