HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Dickinson by a 5-4 score in its Spring Tennis Fest opener.
Torrienne Emery and
Shelby Carter opened up play with an 8-5 win in No. 1 doubles, while
Kara Chwang and
Tiffany Njemanze lost a close battle in No. 3, 8-6.Â
Erin Saunders and
Sofia McCoy dropped their No. 2 match, 8-4.
Carter would later overcome a one-set deficit to take her No. 2 singles match, 0-6, 6-1, 10-7.
Chwang and
Yana Vaiman cruised to straight-set victories in their No. 5 and 6 singles matches, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-4.
Emery dropped a competitive first set before falling in her No. 1 match, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
The Mustangs (0-4) will look for their first victory of the season when they take on Rhodes College (TN) on Monday, March 11 at 6 p.m.
