READING, Pa. – Alvernia outscored Stevenson 14-7 in overtime, as the Golden Wolves (16-9, 8-6 MAC Commonwealth) defeated the Mustangs (8-17, 2-12 MAC Commonwealth) 82-75 on Saturday afternoon in men's basketball play.
Cameron Smith scored a team-high 13 points, while
Mason Jones had ten as the two teams combined for 11 ties and ten lead changes.
Nigel Cooke had 27 points for the Golden Wolves, with Malik Slay netting 12.
Stevenson trailed 38-31 at the beginning of the second half before going on a 10-2 run to go up 41-40 with 16:31 left on a jumper by
Kole Beaman. The Mustangs would go up by four at 57-53 on a three-point play by Smith with 7:30 left in the half.
Tied at 68 heading into overtime, Alvernia went up 74-68 and maintained the lead. Stevenson would rally to within one at 74-73 a three-pointer by
Zach Bolgert but would not retake the lead.
Mason Jones had a team-high 11 rebounds for Stevenson.
