OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson women's basketball (6-17, 2-10) secured an early lead but ultimately didn't pass the test against the Albright College Lions (9-14, 6-6) on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 70-59. Before the game began, senior student managers Mackenzie Jones and Sincere Taylor were recognized for their dedication and effort through two seasons.
First-year guard
Amoni Taylor wasted no time adding five points for the Mustangs to open the first quarter. Less than two minutes into play, junior forward
Stephenae Lawrence secured a layup, followed by a jumper from sophomore guard
Erin Dixon less than a minute later. With a 9-0 lead for the Mustangs, the Lions got on the board off a free throw series. The game eventually tied at 9-9 with 5:18 left. As the Lions took the lead on free throws, Stevenson found two more chances with a three pointer from first-year guard

Elia Richardson. The quarter ended 15-14 in favor of the Lions.
Sophomore forward
Tessa Boswell added a three pointer 12 seconds into the second quarter as the Mustangs took the lead. This was followed by a three from Dixon seconds later. Two more lead swaps ensued as the Lions tied it up at 20-20 with 8:43 on the clock, and Dixon added a jumper seconds later. Lawrence tied it up 23-23 on free throws and then gained a one-point advantage on the second shot. Despite the mid-quarter effort from the Mustangs, the Lions maintained the lead. Sanaa Thorne and a jumper from Boswell brought the Mustangs to the half just short, 36-32.
Pushing defensively in the third quarter, Lawrence tightened the gap on free throws after two minutes of back-and-forth action. Two more ties occurred as Dixon secured a jumper at 6:26 (36-36) and sophomore forward
Destiny Towns secured a layup at 4:10 (40-40). Despite the Mustangs' effort, the Lions ended the third quarter ahead 52-45.
Taylor added a three to answer two opportunities from the Lions occurring at 8:22 on the clock in the fourth quarter. The Lions were matched on defense, but managed to push to a 12-point gap by 2:20 on the clock after Richardson added a three pointer. Dixon found more points in the final minute, and with 31 seconds left, the Mustangs pushed for 60 points with a layup from Lawrence and an ensuing free throw. The Lions' free throws in the final seconds helped them to the final 70-59 decision in the visitors' favor.
Dixon totaled 15 points, three steals and three rebounds, and went 6-for-14 on field goals. Behind her was Lawrence with 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals, going 8-for-12 on the line. Richardson rounded out the key performers with nine points and two steals, going 6-for-8 on free throws.
The Mustangs finish out their regular season with two games on the road, first traveling to conference opponent Messiah on Tuesday, Feb. 13, for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
