OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Albright closed the game on a 9-2 run over a 2:20 span in the latter part of the second half as the Lions (11-12, 4-8 MAC Commonwealth) defeated Stevenson (8-15, 2-10 MAC Commonwealth) 67-64 Saturday in men's basketball play.
Four players scored in double figures with Phanique Dupree and Eric Chamberlain each getting 16, with Robert Mangum scoring 15 and Chris Kouemi netting ten.
Ronald Ayers had a game and team-high 19 points for the Mustang, who got points from 13 different players in the loss.
Nate Arrington had eight points, with
Kole Beaman getting six.
Stevenson led 60-54 with 4:59 left in the contest, before Albright battled back to take the lead at 64-62 with 3:07 left on a three-pointer by Isaac Lapierre. Stevenson would get back within two at 66-64 on a jumper by Ayers with two minutes remaining.
Stevenson had two cracks at tying the score in the final minute, but both fell short.
Albright had a 42-30 lead on the glass, with Mangum getting 11 rebounds for the Lions. Beaman had four rebounds for the Mustangs, who will close their home slate on Tuesday against Messiah.
