No. 23 Mustangs fall to No. 10 Spartans in MACC semifinal

YORK, Pa. - Stevenson Field Hockey traveled to tenth-ranked and second-seeded York College of Pennsylvania this evening for the MAC Commonwealth semifinal matchup. After a scoreless first half, the Spartans would break the stalemate with a two-goal third quarter.

Both sides held strong defensively in the first half with shots being limited to just two for York and one for Stevenson. For the Mustangs, sophomore Jordan Vradenburgh made both stops.

The Spartans came out stronger in the second half, with Vradenburgh being forced to make seven total stops in the latter 30. York took just 36 seconds to score in the third quarter and capped off the period with a penalty stroke goal to go up 2-0.

Just minutes into the fourth quarter, graduate student Emma Gladstein netted her 20th goal of the season, citing an assist from senior Nicole Ziegler. Gladstein finishes the season with 49 points and Ziegler with three assists.

With just six minutes to go, York scored an insurance goal on a rebound stemming from a penalty corner.

Vradenburgh finished the game with nine saves and the season with 78.

The semifinal loss marks the conclusion of Stevenson's season. The Mustangs finished with a 14-5-1 record with ten shutout victories.
