FREDERICK, Md. - Stevenson Men's Soccer opened MAC Commonwealth play tonight at Hood. The game saw just one goal, which proved sufficient as the Mustangs came away with the 1-0 victory.
Stevenson's offense came out hot, notching three shots in the first 20 minutes alone. Hood responded with more aggressive defense, and a consequent foul resulted in a penalty kick goal for the Mustangs, scored by senior defender Bryant Seivers at 11:30. The goal was Seivers' third of the season, tying him for first on the team in goals this season with junior Gianfranco Vitella.
The Mustangs finished with 13 shots, headed by junior PJ Cera with three. Classmates Zack Reightler and Patrick Caulden, as well as sophomore Ellis Amo-Gottfried, each supplied two.
The Blazers produced six shots on goal, all of which were denied by junior keeper Nolen Olson-Warwick. All six saves were made in the second half, including a stop with just two seconds remaining for Olson-Warwick to preserve the shutout victory.
The Mustangs, now 3-4-4 overall, return to East on Wednesday, October 9th, when they host No. 1 University of Mary Washington.
