Eaton, Seivers score in tie with Eastern

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Men's Soccer hosted Eastern University tonight on the East Campus in a MAC Commonwealth contest. Down 1-0 at the half, the Mustangs would battle back for two straight goals, but Eastern scored the late equalizing goal to force a 2-2 final.

The first half saw eight shots from Stevenson and five from Eastern. Four of Stevenson's shots were on frame, and all four were denied by Eastern's Ty Bleiler. Eastern's offense had more success, as one of their two shots on goal found its way into the net.

The Mustangs wasted little time working on their comeback in the second as senior Bryant Seivers struck just 11 minutes in. The goal was his fourth of the season and sophomore Ellis Amo-Gottfried picked up his third assist of the season thanks to his corner kick.

Stevenson built off of their momentum immediately, scoring their second goal of the night less than two minutes later thanks to sophomore Landon Eaton. Eaton's second goal on the year came via junior Tyler Wood, which accounted for his first assist of the season.

The Eagles picked up their offensive efforts right after the Mustangs' second goal, adding 11 shots in the second half and scoring in the 71st minute. Junior keeper Ryan Peterson made three saves to prevent Eastern from regaining a lead in the match's final minutes.

The draw leaves the Mustangs at 3-7-6 overall and 1-1-2 in conference. Stevenson returns to play this Saturday, October 26th at Messiah University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
