CHESTER, Pa. – Stevenson women's soccer remained scoreless early game, yet managed to bounce into action in the second half, scoring 2-1 against the Widener University Pride, marking their first conference victory this season on the road.
Following a very early goal from Pride first-year forward Isabella Losada under two minutes into play, the Mustangs managed eight shots in total as a team. Two of which arrived from senior forward
Ericka Kitzinger, who made three shots, all on goal, on the evening.
Both goals from the Mustangs arrived in the second half, with the tiebreaker resulting from a shot by sophomore midfield
Karly Sheahan seconds after an attempt from graduate student defense
Kelly Schultz. The second game-winning goal arrived from junior forward
Kamille Purcell just minutes later.
Purcell secured four total shots with two on goal. In the net was sophomore
Alison Halstead who made three saves against the Pride.
The Mustangs, now 3-6-4 overall and 1-0-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MACC) play, look forward towards their homecoming and Breast Cancer Awareness Game following the win, hosting conference opponent Albright College on Saturday, October 19 at 4 p.m. on East Campus.
