OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's volleyball team opened its 2024 campaign with a tall task, facing fifth-ranked Juniata.
The Mustangs battled hard in the second set, but, the Eagles (1-0) completed a 3-0 sweep of Stevenson (0-1) on Saturday night.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-18.
The Mustangs were led by eight kills each from Tim Flanigan and
Ryan Thenell, with
Elliot De La Torre getting five.
Justin Novoa had 20 assists, with
Adam DeRubertis getting eight digs.
Aidan O'Brien had three solo digs with De La Torre getting three block assists.
As a team, Stevenson swung 27-17-73 (.137).
Juniata got 12 kills from Tyler Goldsborough and nine each from Juan Armando and Luke Hoffman.
Stevenson will host Marymount on Thursday.
