YORK, Pa. - The Stevenson men's track and field team had a solid opening day of the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by York.
Hayden Schindler took third overall in the 10,000m run with a personal best time of 31:28.78, which gave him All-MAC Third Team honors.
Nathan Williams took fourth overall in the hammer with a top toss of 56.83m. Williams held the second spot until the final throw for the second and third place finishes for Widener. Williams currently has the fifth-best throw in all of Division III this season (59.89m) and is well in line to qualify for nationals.
Jeremiah Battle currently leads the decathlon after five events with a total score of 3295. Battle took first overall in the long jump with a top leap of 6.37m and the 400 with a personal best time of 51.26. Battle also took third in the shot put (11.42m) and 100 (11.49).
The Mustangs are currently fifth out of 10 teams with 11 points.
The second day of the meet is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5.
