Marissa Heuer pitched her third career no-hitter in the inaugural game at the new home to Stevenson softball at the Owings Mills East Campus Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs (2-0) defeated Notre Dame of Maryland (0-6) 30-0 in the first game before defeated the Gators 7-2 in the second.
Game 1 – Stevenson 30, Notre Dame (Md.) 0; WP: Heuer (1-0) LP: Donalds (0-2)
- Marissa Heuer pitched a near perfect game, allowing only one baserunner on a walk in a five-inning no-hitter, picking up 10 strikeouts along the way.
- Stevenson pounded out 24 hits and posted a program record 30 runs, scoring in all four innings.
- Heuer went 4-4 at the plate with five RBIs on three doubles and a homerun.
- Megan Hamp went 4-3 at the plate, recording three RBIs and slapping two doubles and a triple.
- Maddie Bosley and McKenzie Tobler added triples.
- Five Mustangs knocked doubles.
- Jessie Leatherwood earned a walk in the second inning but was caught stealing with a great throw from Maddie Buher.
Game 2 – Stevenson 7, Notre Dame (Md.) 2; WP: Haines (1-0) LP: Leatherwood (0-2)
- Jillian Haines recorded eight strikeouts with no walks and five hits in a complete game effort to record her first win of the season.
- The Mustangs added two runs in each of the first two innings and added three insurance runs in the sixth.
- Maddie Bosley and Rivers Edwards each recorded inside-the-park homeruns.
- Katie Dainton slapped her first-career triple.
- Jordan Fangman and Megan Hamp each went 3-4 at the plate.
Numbers and Notes
- The Mustangs improve their series history vs Note Dame (Md.) to 6-0.
- 30 runs is a program record and most since the Stevenson softball team defeated Trinity (D.C.) 28-0 on April 24, 2019.
- Heuer adds her third-career no-hitter, recording 10 strikeouts.
- Haines recorded her ninth career complete game.
