Birmingham, AL –
Nathan Williams concluded his record-setting season with a top toss of 18.11m in the weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, which gave him 14th place out of 20 athletes in the event.
Williams – who became the sixth male athlete in program history to qualify for indoor nationals - ends the season with school records in both the weight throw (18.43m) and shot put (15.68m). His top performance in the weight throw ranks second in the Mid-Atlantic region, while his top toss in the shot put ranks fourth. Williams also earned All-MAC Second Team honors in both the shot put and weight throw after taking second place in those events at the conference championships. A week later, he placed second in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put at the AARTFC Indoor Championships.
Williams will look to carryover his indoor success into the outdoor season, which begins on Friday, March 24 at the Blue & Gold Classic, hosted by Goucher.
