Kellyann Coccia each recorderd their first-career hat tricks as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team (0-3) fell to Washington College of Maryland (2-0) by a score of 7-14 Saturday afternoon at Roy Kirby Jr Stadium.
The Shorewomen opened the scoring with three consecutive goals before the Mustangs could add their first tally. The goal came from
Bailey Krahl at the 5:47 mark of the opening quarter.
Kellyann Coccia added her first tally with just seven seconds remaining in the first quarter with an assist from Krahl to cut the deficit to one.
Washington College regained a three-goal lead with two goals 12 seconds apart at the 10:30 mark of the second quarter. Isabelle Vanemburgh earned a free position opportunity and sent her shot past the goalie to move the score to 3-5 with 5:17 remaining in the half. The Shorewomen added the final goal of the half with 17 seconds remaining to take a 3-6 advantage into halftime.
Kellyann Coccia added her second goal of the game with an assist from Katherine Freeman to move the score to 4-7 at 12:55. The Shorewomen added six unanswered goals to take a 4-13 lead before
Bailey Krahl earned a free position and deposited her second goal of the game at 5:39 of the fourth. The goal sparked a three-goal flurry from the Mustangs with Coccia's hat-trick goal sandwiched between two from Krahl. Washington added one final tally with 51 seconds remaining to set the score to 7-14.
