ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Stevenson (8-16-1 Overall, 6-14-1 UCHC) women's ice hockey team concluded their 2022-23 season after falling to No. 1 seed, Nazareth, 6-0 in the UCHC Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustang defense held back the top seeded Golden Flyers until 9:55 in the first period, when Nazareth notched the first goal of the game. Nazareth then followed with three more goals in the remainder of the period to take a 4-0 lead going into the second period. In the second period, Stevenson held the Golden Flyers to one goal at 14:30 to lift their lead to 5-0. In the third period, Nazareth put away a power play goal at 17:52 to cap off the 6-0 win to move onto the UCHC Semifinals.
Olivia DeGuire and
Maggie Sehnert contributed a combination of 58 saves on the afternoon for the Mustangs. Sehnert made a career-high of 40 stops in the contest.
Tea Ferrara put up three blocks against the Golden Flyers.
The Mustangs concluded their season as the eighth seed in the UCHC and the fourth seed in the MAC.
