Men's Basketball heads into Finals with win over Lebanon Valley

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's basketball team passed its last test before finals as the Mustangs (4-3) defeated Lebanon Valley (0-8) 72-52 on Wednesday night.
 
The Mustangs were facing the Flying Dutchmen for the first time as a non-conference opponent as Lebanon Valley moved over to the MAC Freedom this academic year.
 
It was a balanced score attack for the Mustangs, as ten players cracked the scoring column. Rasheed Cooley had a team-high 11 points, with Cameron Smith and Cameron Sapienza each getting nine. Nate Arrington scored eight, while Mason Jones had seven.
 
The Mustangs had a 52-34 edge on the glass, with Zach Bolgert grabbing nine caroms while Arrington and Smith had seven each. Cooley had three steals. Stevenson held the Flying Dutchmen to 25.9 percent shooting (14-for-54) and 4-for-19 (21.1 percent) from the three-point line.
 
Ryan Harder had 13 points for LVC, with Luis Garcia getting 11.
 
Stevenson led wire-to-wire, going up by nine with 9:27 left on a layup by Mason Jones. After LVC got to within four at 25-21, the Mustangs went on a 14-3 run to end the half.
 
In the second half, Stevenson led by as much as 24.
 
The Mustangs will be off for finals, resuming play in 13 days at the Whittenberg Holiday Classic by taking on Manchester University on Tuesday, December 19.
