King's upends Football 16-8

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – King's College junior quarterback Russell Minor-Shaw rushed for 169 yards and two scores, while throwing for 223 yards as the Monarchs (7-2, 6-2 MAC) defeated Stevenson (6-3, 5-3 MAC) 16-8 on Saturday afternoon.

Stevenson led 6-3 early in the third quarter, before Minor-Shaw scored on rushes of 28 and three-yards. The last one came with 9:42 left in the fourth to give the Monarchs a 16-6 lead.

Stevenson got a safety on a blocked punt with 6:34 left in the game as Deion Richardson earned the block and the ball went out of bounds.

After Stevenson went three-and-out on its next possession, the Mustangs forced a King's turnover at the Monarchs 18-yard line. However, the Mustangs threw an
interception on a trick play and King's got the ball right back.

A penalty on a punt gave the Monarchs a fresh set of downs and they were able to run out the clock.

Stevenson quarterback Nyaire Wilson threw for 127 yards, while Louis Clouser rushed for 55 yards. Jaiheem Henderson caught eight passes for 45 yards.

Defensively, the Mustangs forced four fumbles and recovered all four with Justin Rutkowski, Anthony Lembo, Demetrius Salley and Chris Tsilikos all recovering fumbles. Gavin Shields, Rutkowski, Marvin Manassa and Clarence Thomas each had seven stops for Stevenson.

Brody Campbell had two field goals, one from 40 yards and one from 38 yards.

Campbell's first field goal, from 40-yards out, came with 9:30 left in the second quarter to give the Mustangs a 3-0 lead. King's would tie the score on its next drive, eating up 7:24 of clock as Dylan Manna kicked a 27-yard field goal to tie the score at 3-all with 2:06 left in the half.

Stevenson hosts Eastern in its regular season finale next Saturday at noon.
