Box Score CANTON, N.Y. - Stevenson Women's Hockey traveled to SUNY Canton this afternoon for a matchup with the Kangaroos. A back-and-forth scoring spree would ensue, but the hosting 'Roos would score the deciding goal to come away with a 3-2 win.
Canton would open up the first period with a power-play goal, but it would be senior Cassie Campbell to even the score at the halfway point of the second period. Sophomore Meghan Croyle was credited with the assist for her second point of the season while Hannah Labbe picked up her fourth. Campbell's goal was her first of the season and she ranks second on the team in points with three.
After the 'Roos pulled ahead on the power-play once again in the second, senior Emily Brightbill scored her second goal of the season while first year Emma DeMan picked up her first collegiate point on the assist. Brightbill's goal was scored just three minutes into the third period to tie the game at two.
Canton would score the go-ahead goal with just under three minutes to spare in regulation.
In net, senior Ainsley King made a career-high 47 saves in net. In front of King, classmate Hannah Labbe blocked a game-high three shots. DeMan and classmate Carleigh Barwick, as well as Brightbill, followed with two blocks each.Â
Junior Maddie Silverman was the sole Mustang to finish the game +2.Â
The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow in game two against Canton at 12:30 p.m. to round out their Thanksgiving road series.
