REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Stevenson Men's Hockey hosted Alvernia University in the first game of their home-and-home series. An early goal by the Golden Wolves would generate the momentum needed to return to Reading with a 4-1 win.
Alvernia scored off the opening face-off just 11 seconds into the game, which would be the only goal of the first period. They would score the game-winner just past the halfway point of the second period before junior Malcolm Palmer scored his first goal of the season to break the shutout. He was assisted by classmate Liam McCanney and sophomore Blake Benson, both of whom now have three points on the season. The goal gave Palmer his team-leading fifth point on the year.
Senior Eric Olson led the Mustangs with nine face-off wins followed by Benson with seven.
In goal, junior Ty Outen made 21 stops. In front of him, senior Zach Bannister led with three blocks.
The Mustangs are back in action tomorrow night at 7 in Reading, Pennsylvania as they look to get back into the win column.
