Men’s soccer falls in battle to Spartans

YORK, Pa. – The Stevenson men's soccer team fell to the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans in a 1-4 decision on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the heavy defense from the Mustangs, York took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity in the 26th minute to put away the first goal of the contest. York then followed with a second goal in the 34th minute and another in 42nd minute to register a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

In the second half, both teams battled to the very end as the Spartans put a fourth goal away in the 88th minute. The Mustangs got on the board in the 89th minute of the contest when Brian Rogowski put away an unassisted goal to save the Mustangs from a shutout.

Rogowski and Dean Martin slotted the two shots on goal for Stevenson in the contest. Nolen Olson-Warwick made two saves for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will take on some nonconference play as the squad travels to Immaculata, Pa. to match up against the Immaculata Mighty Macs. First touch is slated for 7 p.m.
