Box Score READING, Pa. – The Stevenson University football team started off the second half of its schedule with a 38-0 shutout of Albright to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in MAC play.
The Mustangs held Albright to just 99 yards of total offense, while netting 410 yards of total offense on the afternoon. One key was the fact that Stevenson held the ball for over 41 minutes in the contest.
Elijah Marquez rushed for three scores, scoring on runs from 1,7 and 7 yards out. He finished the day by rushing for 116 yards on 17 carries.
Jake Taylor had a 56-yard run for a score, as the Mustangs rushed for 276 yards on the afternoon.
Nyaire Wilson threw for 134 yards on 16-for-27 passing and a score, which was a 7-yard strike to
Tylor Blake in the fourth quarter.
Jaimeem Henderson had a team-high 39 yards receiving on two catches, one of seven Mustangs to garner a catch in the win.
Defensively,
Clarence Travis had five solo stops and two tackles for loss, while
Gavin Shields and
JanMichael Finch each getting four.
Anthony Lembo had a pass breakup and an interception.
Stevenson held a 3-0 lead after one quarter as
Brody Campbell kicked a 42-yard field goal with 11:05 left in the opening quarter.
Just before half, Marquez scored his first TD of the day on a 1-yard run with 28 seconds left in the second for a 10-0 Mustang lead.
Marquez would net his second score of the day with 6:59 left in the third on a 7-yard run, then would score on another 7-yard run with 12:14 left in the game for a 24-0 lead.
Wilson's lone TD pass to Blake came with 5:06 left in the contest, with the final score coming on a Taylor 56-yard run with just 51 seconds left in the game.
Stevenson returns to Reading next weekend, this time to take on Alvernia at noon.
