OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Field Hockey began MAC Commonwealth play this afternoon against Albright College. After an early goal, the offense would keep coming for the Mustangs, leading them to a 5-1 victory on home turf.
Senior Meghan Huey got the Mustangs off to a good start with her unassisted goal just three minutes into the game. She would earn her third point of the day several minutes later as she assisted on junior Paige Wilson's first career goal and points.
In the second quarter, senior Emma Gladstein scored her 12th goal of the season, converting passes from classmate Rylee Leakway and first-year Monica Druckemiller. Gladstein's goal put her at 30 points on the season.
Gladstein was not done adding points as she assisted on sophomore Brenna Benson's first collegiate goal in the third quarter. Benson now has five points on the season stemming from today's goal and three previous assists.
Huey capped off the outing with another goal, tipping a shot from Leakway after sending her the penalty corner. Huey's two goals today put her at nine points on the season and Leakway's assists elevate her to 12.
In net, senior Eve Vickery started the game and did not face action. First-year Jordan Vradenburgh entered at the half and made six saves with one goal against.Â
The Mustangs continue conference play on Wednesday, October 11th at Messiah University before returning home on Thursday for a non-conference matchup with Lancaster Bible College at 6 p.m. They will pick up conference play again for the rest of the season beginning Saturday, October 14th at 1 p.m. against York at Owings Mills East.
