OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Fifth year Women's Ice Hockey head coach Tori Emoff announced the addition of Madison Nichols to her staff for the 2023-24 season.
Nichols comes to Stevenson from the Buffalo Beauts of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), where she played 22 games and registered three points as the youngest player on the team. She was re-signed to the Beauts before the league's transfer under the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).
Prior to her professional career, Nichols enjoyed a productive four years at fellow UCHC institution Nazareth University in Rochester, New York. She appeared in 86 games for the Golden Flyers, racking up 37 goals and 59 assists for 96 career points and a cumulative rating of +74. In her senior season alone, she scored a single-season career-high 18 goals, five of which were game-winners, and a career-high 28 assists.
The Trinity, Florida native left Nazareth ranked second all-time in career assists and points as well as third overall in career goals. As a senior, she helped Nazareth to their first-ever UCHC Championship title and NCAA tournament berth.
Nichols brings previous coaching experience with the Tampa Bay Lightning's girls summer camp program to Stevenson.
Nichols will join Emoff on the bench starting October 27th at Reisterstown Sportsplex for the Mustangs' first official game against SUNY Cortland. The following weekend, November 3rd and 4th, Stevenson will host Nichols' alma mater to open UCHC play.
