READING, Pa. – The Stevenson University football team wrapped up in Reading against the Alvernia Golden Wolves on Saturday afternoon, finishing on top 42-6, improving to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play.
The Mustangs maintained possession of the ball for just over 32 minutes throughout the entire 60 minutes.
The Mustangs held Alvernia to 305 yards of total offense, while adding 368 yards of their own on offense.
Stevenson's junior quarterback
Nyaire Wilson threw for 115 yards on 6-for-12 passing.
Junior running back
Maurice Hammond ran early for three plays for a total of 23 yards and a 70-yard pass from Wilson. Hammond wasted no time putting the Mustangs on the board, scoring a touchdown with 9:52 on the clock. A second Hammond touchdown in the second quarter brought the Mustangs to 14-0. Hammond finished rushing with 65 yards on 12 carries.
The team scored twice more before the end of the half. Sophomore running back
Elijah Marquez had an 11-yard run to the endzone, and Hammond's third score brought the Mustangs to 28-0 before halftime.
Following Alvernia's lone touchdown, Stevenson junior running back
Louis Clouser made two plays for 27 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown in the third and a seven-yard run in the fourth. Clouser rushed for a 94-yard gain on the afternoon with 16 carries. The Mustangs completed the afternoon on top, 42-6.

Ed Hottle earned his 75
th win overall for the Mustangs. Stevenson will next host Misericordia University on Saturday, October 21 for SU's homecoming game at noon in Mustang Stadium.
