Box Score CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Stevenson first-year
Molly Joyner led the match with 10 kills as the Stevenson women's volleyball team (1-0) swept Rutgers-Camden (0-1) in the 2022 season opener for both teams during the DeSales Tournament Friday evening. Set scores were 25-13, 25-20 and 25-12.
The Mustangs took the first set wire-to-wire, rifling off the first seven points of the match with kills from
Shannon Baily,
Sarah Straub and
Rileigh Kimball. The squads traded the next six points before Joyner would notch her first-career kill to spark a three-point Stevenson streak. The Mustangs finished the set on a four-point run with back-to-back aces from Joyner at a 25-13 advantage.
Stevenson eased into the second set, falling to a 5-7 deficit before sprinting to a 12-7 lead with a six point run which included three aces from
Kayla Vaeth. The Scarlet Raptors leveraged a couple of Stevenson errors and a kill by Isabella Choice at the 23-20 mark but the Mustangs notched the final two points of set two with a kill from
Giulia Viglietta and one more ace from Vaeth.
Joyner, Straub and Bailey led the Stevenson attack in the third set to a 10-6 advantage. Rutgers-Camden inched back to a 10-8 deficit before the Mustangs riffled off a 7-2 run to a 17-9 advantage. The Mustangs finished the frame with a five point run, capped off by back-to-back kills from Joyner.
