Coleman Records 1,000 Career Rebound as Mustangs Win, 46-38 at Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- The Stevenson women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Eastern, Saturday afternoon as the Mustangs won, 46-38.

  • Aysia Ferguson started off the scoring in the game against Eastern at the 7:41 minute mark. 
  • Olivia Coleman recorded a jumper as Stevenson came out to a 4-0 lead. 
  • It was a slow first quarter for both teams as Morgan DeBeary put in a layup at the 4:48 minute mark. 
  • For the next several minutes neither team could make a basket until the 1:30 minute mark, when Eastern put up a layup to end the quarter, 8-2. 

  • The first two minutes of the second quarter were scoreless. At the 8:14 minute mark, the Eagles added a jumper to cut the Mustangs lead, 8-4. 
  • Stevenson once again doubled their lead at the 4:35 minute mark as Ferguson added a jump shot to take a 13-6 lead. 
  • The Eagles added the next four points to come within three of the Mustangs. 
  • Coleman extended the Mustangs lead, 15-10 with a made jump shot at the 3:29 minute mark. 
  • With over a minute remaining in the quarter, Trisha Tellian sunk a three to give Stevenson a greater lead at 19-12. 
  • Just before the buzzer with two seconds remaining, Tellian assisted Laci Johnson for a three-pointer to end the quarter, 23-14. 

  • Eastern started off the scoring in the third quarter with a jumper at the 8:18 minute mark. 
  • Morgan Pennick brought the Mustangs up by ten with two made free throws. 
  • The Eagles responded by sinking a three at the 7:14 minute mark. Stevenson responded again by taking the next several points after a DeBeary free throw.
  • Eastern made the next several points following a three from the Eagles, Eastern trailed, 33-29. 
  • Coleman ended the quarter with a free throw as Stevenson led, 36-29. 

  • The scoring in the final quarter didn't open up until the 5:35 minute mark after an Easter layup. 
  • Tellian added another three to her day at the 5:03 minute mark to give Stevenson a 39-31 lead. 
  • L. Johnson put up a jumper to take the lead by ten with nearly four minutes remaining. 
  • Coleman added the final point of the game with 17 seconds remaining as she sunk a free throw to give the Mustangs a 46-38 win over Eastern. 

  • Coleman recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds. Coleman recorded her 1,000th career rebound in the win. 
  • Ferguson added nine points while Tellian added nine points from the bench. Tellian also added two steals. 
  • Stevenson moves to 4-3 all-time against Eastern as the team completed the season sweep over the Eagles. The Mustangs have won the last four matchups.
  • Eastern outrebounded Stevenson, 43-39. 
  • Stevenson shot .298 from the floor and Eastern shot .263. 
  • Both teams had an equal amount of turnovers with 26 apiece. 

  • Stevenson travels to Messiah for a mid-week matchup on Wednesday, February 9 at 6 PM.
