The Simpson College Storm opened the game's scoring with a three-pointer from Easton Darling before SU graduate student guard
McKale Williams scored a three for the Mustangs, assisted by senior guard

Ryan Newell checked into the game off the bench, sinking a layup, giving the Mustangs an 11-8 lead before Simpson took their first timeout. Following the timeout, the Storm came out firing, taking back the lead, 23-19 with 9:20 remaining in the first half. Senior forward Bo Welsey tied the game up at 23 as the Mustangs hit four of their last four field goals, forcing Simpson to take another timeout. The Storm failed to drain a basket from the floor in the final four minutes, handing the Mustangs a slim 35-33 lead going into the break.

Second Half
Back-to-back threes gave the lead back to Simpson 41-36 before a Stevenson timeout 1:33 into the second half. The Storm increased their lead to 12 points, 61-49, with less than 10 minutes remaining. Wesley contributed on a 6-0 run for the Mustangs to inch back, still down 63-55. Freshman guard
Myles Jackson hit a free throw in the final seconds as the Mustangs were unable to come back, falling 76-66. Misses cost the Mustangs, as they went 9-31 from the floor and 4-14 beyond the arch in the second half.

Following the loss on the first day of the Daytona Beach shootout, the Mustangs fall to 6-4 overall (1-2 in the MAC). Stevenson will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Dec. 20 as they take on Kenyon College at 7 p.m. The Storm improves to 8-2 and will take on Muskingum on Tuesday, Dec. 20 with tip-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
